98-year-old woman fulfills lifelong dream, graduates from US high school with good grade

AMERICA  | A determined 98-year-old woman named Vivian Fisher has finally achieved her lifelong dream of earning a high school diploma, proving that it’s never too late to chase your aspirations.

Vivian  graduated from Monrovia High School in the United States, celebrating a remarkable milestone decades after she was forced to drop out of school as a young girl.

As a teenager, Vivian had to put her education on hold to work multiple jobs and support her family. Despite the many years that passed, her desire to graduate never faded.

After more than 80 years, she finally walked across the stage to receive her honorary diploma. Vivian shared this special achievement with her great-grandnephew, Elijah Vance, who also graduated from high school on the same day.

“She was there to receive her honorary diploma because she wasn’t able to get it when she was younger because she had to take care of her family,” Elijah Vance said.

The principal of Monrovia High School, Kirk McGinnis said the school will always remember this graduation ceremony as one of the most special and unique ones.

“This graduation ceremony will go down as one of the most unique and exceptional graduations that this school has had,” Kirk said.

According to Blacknews, Vivian is not the only one in her family to achieve historical feats. Her father was the first Black graduate of Monrovia High School and the first Black police officer in Monrovia.
