R&B Singer Kenny Lattimore’s Son Graduates From College

Nationwide — K.J. Lattimore, the 22-year-old son of renowned R&B artists Kenny Lattimore and Chanté Moore, is officially an HBCU graduate of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. The commencement took place on May 4, according to HBCU Gameday, marking a major milestone in K.J.’s life as he joins the legacy of alumni from the first degree-granting HBCU in the United States. His achievement carries both personal and historical significance, and his proud parents were quick to express their joy.

Kenny Lattimore took to his Facebook page to celebrate the moment, writing, “He did it! From a 17-year-old KJ visiting Lincoln’s campus to a 22-year-old walking away ready to take on the world.” He also thanked everyone who helped guide his son throughout the journey. Chanté Moore shared an equally emotional tribute to her son, writing, “I can’t stop crying tears of joy… I’m so proud of YOU KJ!!! You did it baby!” Her words overflowed with pride and excitement about what lies ahead for her son.

On Instagram, K.J. reflected on the importance of the moment, sharing, “In this life you must evolve… I am now a graduate from The First HBCU. There is still much more evolution to come.” He also acknowledged the challenges he faced and expressed gratitude for his blessings, stating, “When they doubted and thought I might fall, I remain blessed and thank God through it all.”

Lincoln University, founded in 1854, is known for producing icons such as Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and poet Langston Hughes. By earning his degree there, K.J. steps into a rich legacy of Black excellence and intellectual achievement. His graduation not only marks a personal victory but also highlights the continuing impact of HBCUs in shaping leaders.

K.J.’s success is also a testament to the strong artistic and academic roots of his family. His father, Kenny Lattimore, is an R&B favorite known for timeless hits like “For You” and “Never Too Busy.” His mother, Chanté Moore, helped define 1990s R&B with songs like “Love’s Taken Over” and “Chanté’s Got a Man.” Both parents have built impressive careers while nurturing their son’s growth.

The family gathered for an intimate celebration at Kata restaurant in Washington, D.C., surrounded by friends and loved ones. “To everyone who came out to celebrate him last night at Kata restaurant in DC—we love and appreciate each of you,” Kenny Lattimore posted. K.J. Lattimore’s graduation is just the beginning of a bright future, and his journey is far from over.
